The Ann. B. Barshinger Cancer Institute is a state-of-the-art cancer center in Lancaster, PA. It offers some of the most current cancer treatments available, and is home to the very first Cyber Knife M6 system in the nation. Stief Concrete, Inc. is proud to have taken a part in the construction of this distinctive building which continues to revolutionize cancer care for Lancaster County patients.
The project scope encompassed all concrete foundations and flatwork to construct both the Cancer Institute and the Cyber Knife Vault. There were over 2,000 cubic yards of foundation work, including all footings, walls, and piers. There were also 250 linear feet of high radiused wall with monolithic corbels. The flatwork portion of the project consisted of 35,000 square feet of slab on grade and lightweight slab on deck, pan filled stairs and landings.
In addition, Stief Concrete constructed footings, slab, and walls to create a large scenic pond near the entrance of the building, and did a large amount of exposed aggregate paving. We also made ten, cast in place, bench style seats in the parking area, complete with polishing. Lastly, Stief constructed the separate Cyber Knife Vault, which consisted of three foot thick walls and a flat plate lid.
