The student housing project at Millersville University involved 3 phases of work, constructed over the course of three years for Benchmark Construction Company. The building construction portion of the project consisted of 11,000 linear feet of concrete footings with piers, anchor bolts, and leveling plates. Soils were unsuitable, requiring all footings to be fully formed. 140,000 square feet of associated slab on grade followed foundations, including integral load bearing reinforced thickened slabs. Elevated flatwork included flat plate (formed) slabs, topping on precast plank and 16 precast stair caps supplied and set in place by Stief Concrete. 18 sets of three story, pan-filled stairs and landings completed the buildings.
The site work portion of the project included 8,500 linear feet of 18 inch vertical curb, 43,000 square feet of 4 inch concrete sidewalk, and 29,600 square feet of 8 inch fire lane paving.
