Stief Concrete formed, installed rebar, and poured the foundation for the tower crane that will be used in the Hershey Medical Center expansion. The crane foundation was 20’ x 24’ x 6,’ with approximately 7.7 tons of rebar reinforcement. Although this was a smaller job in size, the formwork was difficult. Stief needed to ensure that the forms would hold the concrete pour, with little to no props/support on the outside. Thus, wall ties were welded to rebar in the foundation to secure the forms. The pour went well, with no problems. Stief Concrete poured a hoist pad for the project as well.
